About Us
Chigwell & Hainault Synagogue Nursery was established in 1980 and is situated in the Chigwell & Hainault Synagogue. We are a registered Pre-School for 2 – 4 year olds and we are open term time only (plus two weeks Summer Scheme), offering flexible days and hours.
Our opening times are: Monday – Friday 9.15 AM – 12.15 pm. We offer an optional Healthy Eating Lunch Club from 12.15 – 1.15 pm Monday – Thursday and extra optional afternoon sessions on Tuesday and Thursdays from 12.15 pm – 3.15 pm (including lunch). Children are accepted after their 2nd birthday but we encourage you to register on our waiting list by completing a registration form available on this site to download or from the nursery.

Chigwell & Hainault Synagogue Nursery is run under the guidance of trained and caring staff (known as ‘Aunties’) headed up by the Manager Mrs. Melanie Kaye. All our full time staff hold relevant qualifications and have had relevant first aid training. We operate a high staff to children ratio and each member of staff is the key person to a particular group of children. We aim to continue the learning that your child has already begun at home.

The nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage and is monitored and registered by OFSTED. Parents are encouraged to become involved with their child’s learning. All parents and carers are invited to meet with their child’s key worker regularly and staff will usually be available at the end of the session or by appointment for updates.
Children learn from the examples set by people around them. We aim to show the children through our working practices and our relationships with the families within the group.
We offer your child a chance to learn how to celebrate Shabbat and all major and minor Jewish festivals as part of our ethos. These include: Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Succoth, Simchat Torah, Chanukah, Tu B’Shvat, Purim, Pesach, Yom Ha’atzmaut Lag B’Omer and Shavuot.

From the moment my daughter started this nursery until she left it has been a completely positive experience.
My daughter has learnt so much and made so many friends. The teachers (auntie's) have been so influentialto her and this will stay with her for life. They work sohard for the children and are genuinly invested in each child. Each day when i picked her up she would tell me of all of the fun activities she had done that day and would come home with endless bits of art work and other things she had made. She was so excited to go in each day. She has had such a great start to her education by attending this nursery and we couldn't be happier.
